Former Capitol Officer’s Documentary Claims the January 6 Riots Were a Set-Up

An ex-Capitol police officer will offer a different insight into the Capitol riots in a documentary that alleges it was supposed to harm former President Trump.

A Different Story

Former officer Lt. Tarik “T.K.” Johnson became famous, or rather infamous, for putting on a MAGA hat on January 6. He believes this was the reason for his suspension. He then chose to quit the Capitol Police Force.

The Hat

“I figured that if I was wearing a MAGA hat, that people probably wouldn’t want to try to attack me,” he told NPR, adding that he put on the hat to save his colleagues and himself.

The Accusations of a “Set-Up”

Johnson repeatedly said that riots were a “set-up” and called the charges against then-President Trump “crazy.” The ex-police officer shared, “It’s crazy to me that Trump is going to take the fall for causing an insurrection.”

From the Earth to the Moon actor Nick Searcy presented the new documentary, Capitol Punishment 2: The War on Truth. In a trailer, Johnson says, “Everybody that was on the ground on J6, police officers and demonstrators alike, were all set up.”

The documentary is set to be released on January 6, 2024, on Rumble. It has allegations against Christopher Wray, FBI director, ANTIFA, and more. The first documentary, from 2021, includes interviews with Enrique Tarrio, recordings of Ashli Babbitt, and former military and FBI officials.

Capitol riots led to over a thousand arrests, and many led to prison time. Henry “Enrique” Tarrio, former leader of the right-wing extremist group Proud Boys, was sentenced to 22 years. Tarrio took credit for the riot on behalf of the group, though he was not present on January 6. The founder of the far-right group Oath Keepers, Stewart Rhodes, received 18 years.

Trump’s Charges

In 2023, Trump faced a series of indictments. Two separate indictments are related to alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 elections. In D.C., Trump was charged with conspiracy to defraud the United States, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights.

Another Capitol Officer Shared His Thoughts

U.S. Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn told Newsweek, “If he (Johnson) had something, then go ahead and show it. I’ve been all for the truth coming out, and if he got something that will show the truth, then show it.”

However, Another Officer Agreed with Johnson

Former Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund told Tucker Carlson in an un-aired interview, “This didn’t have to happen. Everything appears to be a cover-up.”

More Accusations

Johnson accused now-retired Capitol Police Assistant Chief Yogananda Pittman of holding back “intel” to stop then-United States Capitol Police (USCP) Chief Steven Sund from getting National Guard support. He said he was “begging for help on the radio.”

Ignored Pleas

Johnson alleged that his “pleas were ignored on that day by the person in charge watching the events unfold on CCTV in the Command Center.”

Dunn Offered a Different Version

Dunn wrote a book about his work during the riots and testified before the January 6th Committee, “If a hitman is hired, and he kills somebody, the hitman goes to jail. But not only does the hitman go to jail, the person who hired them does. There was an attack carried out on January 6, and a hitman sent them.”

It was Trump

Dunn repeated this claim to Time magazine and added, “The hitman was Donald Trump, and he needs to answer for his crime.” In the op-ed, Officer Dunn continued, “Not only is he out there; he is running for president even as he faces the possibility of going to jail under a federal indictment for crimes against the United States. And that pisses me off.”
