Ocasio-Cortez Calls Biden One of The “Most Successful Presidents” and Rejects Age Concerns

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a representative from New York, spoke to CNN about President Biden’s achievements and praised him as “one of the most successful presidents in modern history.” She also rejected age concerns, noting that Trump is only three and a half years younger and has 91 charges.

The Democratic lawmaker said that Biden “passed the inflation reduction that got us the American Rescue Plan that ensured that we could pass one of the largest federal investments in climate change in U.S. history.” And while numerous polls suggest that voters think Biden is too old for a second term, AOC is not worried.

The representative from New York reminded that though “folks are talking about how he’s 81,” Trump is not much younger. AOC stated, “We have to look at, first of all, Donald Trump, who is around the same age. They could have gone to high school together.” Then, she blasted Trump’s legal troubles.

AOC added, “Beyond that, Donald Trump has 91 indictments.” She continued, “President Biden is going to be the Democratic nominee, and hopefully, he’ll be reelected as President of the United States,” and shared that many Democratic voters already rejected Dean Phillips, Biden’s challenger.

AOC spoke about Trump’s possible second term, “We need to understand what we are staring down in this country. If Donald Trump is elected president of the United States, we do not know if there will be a verifiable next election that has integrity.”

The New York lawmaker continued, “He already tried to, we saw on January 6, he tried to overturn the results of a presidential election by force by inciting a riot. I think we need to be very, very realistic about the grave, grave impacts of a Donald Trump election.”

AOC warned, “It is not a joke. It is not a game,” and concluded, “We need to protect our democracy, and ideally, it’s going to be on progressive values.”

During last week’s interview on MSNBC, AOC told on All In with Chris Hayes, “Republicans are dealing with not their first-choice speaker, not their second-choice speaker, not their third-choice speaker,” adding they were dealing with “the Speaker that they could get and that they could agree on.”

AOC called Speaker Johnson “a relative newcomer when it comes to the tenure of member that you’re used to seeing when they typically get the Speaker’s gavel.” She added that Johnsons ” does not have experience in party leadership.”

AOC told Hayes, “Secretary Mayorkas has demonstrated no – there is absolutely no evidence for an impeachable offense. It is completely politicized.” She continued, “It imperils the Republicans’ own swing-district members to force a vote on something so clearly craven and without merit.”

The damaging report

According to a poll by ABC News/Ipsos, after the Special Counsel report described Biden as “an elderly man with a poor memory,” 91 percent of Independents feel Biden is too old to serve, while 73 percent of Democrats agreed. 62 percent feel the same way about Trump.

In their second debate, the four leading candidates for the U.S. Senate in California were questioned about Trump’s and Biden’s age. Republican candidate Steve Garvey said, “We all, in our own minds and with our own eyes and ears, have to make that determination.” Barbara Lee, a Democratic, stated, “Experience matters, I have to say,” adding, “People have the right to vote for who they want to vote for.”
