GOP’s Marjorie Taylor Greene left a House hearing after Democratic representative Robert Garcia called her out on supporting insurrection, the Capitol attack, and visiting the prisoners.
Greene’s concerns sparked the Democrat’s outrage
Greene complained about crime rates in Washington, D.C., which prompted a California Democrat to remind the committee about Greene’s previous antics, “I want to remind the gentlelady that it was her that actually organized a trip to the D.C. jail to hug and high-five and sit with the insurrectionists that actually attacked our Capitol.”
That is “ironic”
Garcia continued, “This is quite ironic that the insurrectionists that tried to overthrow our government in the Capitol City were being coddled — were being, were actually being coddled by, it’s quite a shame that you call them political prisoners or hostages, I think maybe you called them.”
Garcia was not done, despite Greene’s protests
The Georgia firebrand tried intervening, but someone said, “Mr. Chairman, she’s not recognized.” At this point, Garcia continued talking while Greene was on her way out. Garcia added, “I think it’s quite interesting that my colleague was trying to talk about the safety of D.C. when she literally supported an insurrection, an attack on the Capitol, visited the prisoners.”
Garcia discussed the incident on X
The Democrat wrote, “Marjorie Taylor Greene tried to complain about D.C. crime rates but walked out of the room when I reminded her I saw her hugging and coddling the January 6 insurrectionists in jail. She even yelled that they’re political prisoners in the middle of my remarks. She’s insane.”
Garcia gloated
Following the failed impeachment of the Homeland Security Secretary, Garcia wrote, “The Marjorie Taylor Greene impeachment stunt against Secretary Mayorkas just went down in defeat!” The congressman freshman added, “Marge is going to be BIG MAD.”
Not their first encounter
Garcia previously mocked Greene following her call for decorum at a House subcommittee hearing regarding Covid vaccines. Garcia criticized Greene for giving “very irresponsible facts to our witnesses and the committee.” He also reminded the subcommittee that the Georgia Republican compared wearing masks to the Holocaust.
The Californian had more to say
Garcia took on X to discuss etiquette: “Marjorie needs to remember she showed us a d… pic last week.” The pictures in question were of Hunter Biden, and many House members wondered if there was any point in showing the First Son without any clothes. Garcia said, “Today’s hearing is like most of the majority’s investigations and hearings: A lot of allegations, zero proof, no receipts — but apparently, some d… pics.”
Greene got more bad news
The Georgia Republican told reporters at the Capitol, “When they came to Washington to protest, you called that an insurrection, but when Biden was inaugurated, and this Capitol was surrounded with National Guard troops, none of you stood there and called that an insurrection.” Garcia was among social media users who fact-checked the author of “MTG.”
Garcia responded
The Democrat replied on a video of Greene’s speech, writing, “Ma’am, I saw you hug and high-five the J6 insurrectionists in our D.C. Jail. And you got big mad today in our hearing when I called you out. Stop supporting these traitors.”
Fromer RNC Chairman intevrened
Michael Steele, former Lieutenant Governor of Maryland and former Chairman of the Republican National Committee wrote a lengthy response to address all of Greene’s claims. Steele started, “A. The National Guard surrounds the Capitol at every inauguration. It’s called protection. Not insurrection.”
“Your intelligence is exhausting”
Steele continued, “B. Because YOUR friends committed violent acts on the Capitol grounds 2 weeks before -THAT’S called insurrection – the Guard was increased.” He concluded, “C. Your intelligence is exhausting.”
In “MAGAdonia”
MeidasTouch Network commented on X, “In MAGAdonia, trying to overturn an election through violence and pressure campaigns is not an insurrection, but a presidential inauguration is.” Meanwhile, some House Republicans are trying to pass a resolution that Trump “did not engage in insurrection or rebellion against the United States.”
