Former Trump Adviser Warns About “unfit” Trump And His Potential Second Term

During an ABC News interview, Bolton, who worked for Trump’s office in 2018 and 2019, told George Stephanopoulos, “I think if you look at what Trump did in his first term — which I try and describe in the original book — you can extrapolate from that what a second term will be like, and basically it will be the same except worse.”

In his “Good Morning America” appearance, Bolton added, “All of the things that he did that rendered his presidency dangerous then are going to be even more pronounced in the second term.”

Bolton further noted, “he will abuse the Justice Department, what he will do in foreign policy … since he has no philosophy and he doesn’t do policymaking in any coherent sense as we understand it. It will be another random walk for America and very, very dangerous.”

The former national security adviser wrote “The Room Where It Happened: A White House Memoir,” which, according to Axios, presents  “a mountain of facts demonstrating that Trump is unfit to be President.”

Bolton was also on MSNBC

While on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Bolton told Mika Brzezinski, the host, “As a very astute person once said to me, he doesn’t have a filter between his brain and his mouth.” Bolton assured Trump would pull the US out of NATO.

The prediction

The former White House official explained, “So when he, for example, threatens to get out of NATO, as he did during his first term and has done since then, I think people better believe it, and I think that would be a catastrophic mistake for American national security and the security of the West as a whole.”

Bolton expanded his thoughts on Trump’s relationship with foreign dictators, “he is fundamentally ignorant. He really doesn’t care about the facts. He thinks international relations are about personal relations, which is a line and approach that I can tell you Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping are eagerly looking forward to.”

Trump’s campaign spokesperson fired back

Writing to Reuters and Axios, Trump campaign spokesperson Jason Miller slammed Bolton, “For someone who professes to have such great disdain for President Trump, ‘Book Deal Bolton’ sure has found a way to grift off the relationship.”

The Biden campaign reacted

The Biden campaign spokesperson Ammar Moussa commented on Bolton’s memoirs, saying, “Donald Trump’s own National Security Advisor issued a stark warning about a second Trump presidency: Americans at home and abroad will be less safe under Trump. He’s already spent four years alienating our allies, cozying up to dictators, and was literally laughed at on the world stage.”

On X, Bolton shared an excerpt from his WSJ piece: “When I became Trump’s national security adviser, I assumed the gravity of his role would discipline even him. I was wrong.”

“His erratic approach to governance and his dangerous ideas gravely threaten American security. GOP primary voters should take note.” Bolton added.

The book’s forward includes Bolton’s predictions about NATO and abuse of power and adds, “Indeed, it is a close contest between Putin and Xi Jinping, who would be happiest to see Trump back in office.” Axios reported that Bolton says Trump would “throw” Ukraine to Russia, “endanger” Taiwan’s independence and ask for “a bad deal with Iran” to prove he’s a “master negotiator.”
