Donald Trump’s oldest son, Trump Jr., shared his excitement about the third anniversary of January 6, while his dad, former president, called Biden to release the rioters.
Trump Jr. shared excitement on X
The former First Son wrote, “Happy Fake Insurrection Day!!!” He added, “The first ever insurrection with armed tour guides and unarmed participants! I do hope that it was the start of something real though, where people realize that their government is not what they thought it to be and unite to take back their country!!”
Trump called rioters in prison “hostages”
On January 6, Trump also spoke about the riots and stated, “They ought to release the J6 hostages. They’ve suffered.” He continued by urging the president to free them, “I call them hostages. Some people call them prisoners. I call them hostages. Release the J6 hostages, Joe. Release them, Joe. You can do it real easy, Joe.”
Democracy on the ballot
President Biden’s speech regarding the January 6 riots was moved to January 5 due to weather conditions in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. He commented, “Democracy is on the ballot. Your freedom is on the ballot.”
Trump’s “obsessed with the past”
In a 30-minute speech, the president warned, “Donald Trump’s campaign is obsessed with the past, not the future. He’s willing to sacrifice democracy to put himself in power.”
Ex-officer urged Biden to fight for democracy
A former D.C. officer, who was attacked during the riots, asked the president to fight harder for democracy. Michael Fanone said on MSNBC, “I think it’s an all-hands-on-deck effort to make sure that Donald Trump doesn’t assume the presidency in 2024.” He added, “We all know what that’s gonna look like, he’s told us as much.”
The issues
The former officer Fanone added, “I’ve gotta point out some of the disappointments I’ve had over the past three years.” He explained, “Where’s the outrage on behalf of the current administration? You know, I give credit. Joe Biden has given some fiery speeches concerning MAGA and its effort to overturn a free and fair election. But that’s something that this country needs to hear every single day, specifically younger people, young voters.”
Fanone’s attacker was caught
Daniel Rodriguez from California pleaded guilty to attacking former Officer Fanone. Rodriguez said he tased the officer twice in the neck. Fanone suffered a minor heart attack and brain injury during the Capitol riots.
Biden had more to say about the riots and the 2020 elections
The Pennsylvania speech marks the first campaign speech for the POTUS, and he was visibly excited. Biden told the crowd, “The legal path just took Trump back to the truth. That I’d won the election, and he was a loser.”
Biden’s reminder
“Trump lost 60 court cases — 60. Trump lost the Republican-controlled states; Trump lost before a Trump-appointed judge and then judges. And Trump lost before the United States Supreme Court. All of them. He lost. Trump lost recount after recount after recount and state after state,” Biden reminded his supporters.
Pelosi and Pence
The president also reminded the audience how MAGA crowds treated then-Vice President Pence and then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Biden said, “He talks about an intruder, whipped up by the big Trump lie, taking a hammer to Paul Pelosi’s skull, echoing the very same words used on Jan. 6, ‘Where’s Nancy?’ And he thinks that’s funny, he laughed about it. What a sick….” Biden stopped his fiery speech to avoid an expletive but continued, “I think it’s despicable, seriously, not just for a president, for any person to say.”
Potential troubles for Trump and his oldest sons
New York Attorney General Letitia James wrote before the closing arguments in the New York civil trial against Trump. She asked the judge in the case to fine Trump over $370 million and for Trump to be barred for life from participating in the New York City real estate industry.
Trump Jr. and Eric Trump’s future
James alleged that the Trump Organization, led by Eric and Donald Trump Jr. “lacks effective leadership” and should be placed into court-appointment monitorship for at least five years to ensure they no longer break the law.
