“If anybody is listening to this program for any length of time, been threatening now to do this for quite a while, but we are now beginning our first broadcast of my new home, and that is in the free state of Florida,” Hannity said.

Hannity firmly stated his decision was final, expressing, “I am out. I am done. I’m finished. New York, New York, goodbye. Florida, Florida, if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere. But it’s great to be here.”

Inspired by Conservative Leadership

Citing the conservative governance of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, along with Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott, Hannity explained that these factors motivated his move to Florida, where he already feels much more content about his decision to settle there permanently.

Shared Values

Hannity further expressed that this move marks a significant moment in his adult life, stating, “And finally for the first time that I can think of in my adult life, I actually have representatives in the state that I’m living in that share my values. I have a governor by the name of Ron DeSantis and Senator Marco Rubio and Senator Rick Scott. So I’m feeling a lot better about it.”

Culture-War Legislation

Governor Ron DeSantis, backed by the Republican-dominated state legislature and governor’s office in Florida, has successfully passed several contentious culture-war legislations.

Escaping Blue State Woes

The far-right anchor added that his move is self-explanatory and shouldn’t come as a surprise in light of the conditions in Democratic-led states, saying, “And I’m not going to go through the whys, the how comes, because it’s obvious this migration out of the blue states with high taxes, burdensome regulation, high crime, horrible school districts is real. And if anything, I’m probably late and behind the curve and many others have made the move beforehand.”

Warmer, Freer, Better

Hannity also boasted about his new home state, highlighting its advantages over other states with its “warmer weather, law and order, better education, more freedom, [and] better quality of life.”

The US Census Bureau reports that Florida experienced one of the biggest population surges in July, welcoming around 365,000 new residents, a 1.6% increase in its population. In contrast, New York faced the largest population decline nationally, with approximately 102,000 people moving away.

Public Policy Shifts

Florida faces high insurance premiums due to climate change impacting its coastline. The state imposes restrictions ranging from public attire to book accessibility and bathroom usage.

Its education system has controversially portrayed slavery, and Governor DeSantis’ dispute with Disney, a major employer in the state, has led to an unusual legal conflict.

Closer to Trump

Hannity’s decision to relocate puts him nearer to Trump, the host and journalist seems to have developed a close advisory and supportive relationship with the ex-president, evidenced by his appearance at a Trump rally in 2018 and his assistance in crafting a campaign ad for Trump in 2020

Will Trump Abuse Power?

Speaking with Trump, Hannity addressed the topic of dictatorial tendencies, questioning, “Do you in any way have any plans whatsoever, if reelected president, to abuse power? To break the law? To use the government to go after people?”

Hannity appeared almost begging Trump to disclaim any such intentions.
