Boebert District Change Sparks Fury: “She’s a deserter” and a “coward”

Lauren Boebert’s switch from Colorado’s 3rd congressional district to the more conservative 4th enraged some of her potential rivals from the Republican and Democratic parties and angered many voters, an in-depth analysis by the Independent found.

State Representative called Boebert a “coward”

Republican representative Richard Holtorf told the Independent that Boebert’s “100 percent a carpetbagger.” He then shared how the second thing that comes to mind regarding the Colorado Republican is that “She’s a deserter. She’s deserting her people out of political expediency.”

Boebert’s “unprofessional”

“There are certain very disruptive things she’s done that are unprofessional and should not be done,” Holtorf told the Independent, adding, “The outcries during the State of the [Union] speech — you just don’t do that.”

Democrat shared sentiments

Shad Murib from the Democratic party was also not pleased with Boebert’s move despite it potentially bringing in more votes for his party. Describing the 37-year-old grandma, Murib said, “I think the most common phrase that we hear is that she’s a coward.” He added that Boebert’s into social media more than getting things done.

Campaign ads

Colorado State University political science professor Kyle Saunders reminded the Independent how even people who haven’t heard about Boebert’s Beetlejuice “performance” will soon. All it will take are the campaign ads “that her opponents are going to run.”

Beyond the Beetlejuice scandal

Boebert, a former restaurant owner, had her share of troubles before the infamous Beetlejuice vaping and inappropriate touching incident went viral in September. In 2004, her now ex-husband apparently did time for “lewd exposure,” and Lauren Boebert also had her run-ins with the law over the years. She was charged with reckless driving, failed to show up to court, and was arrested after a neighbor reported that her dogs attacked theirs.

Voters have their say

One independent voter, Randy Wallace, told the Independent, “I won’t vote for her because of who she is and what she has done.” Another GOP voter told the outlet, “We’re not fans of people that seek power for power’s sake…” They added, “You might be shocked at how many people are not happy about it … a lot of people tell me they think it’s very selfish.”

Name recognition means nothing

Catherine Thurston, the business manager who lives in Limon, shared with the Independent, “If you’re not going to spend time talking face-to-face with people out here, you’re probably not going to get the vote.” This town does not care about name recognition because they want to know who they’re dealing with in person.

Boebert started well

Holtorf, Boebert’s GOP rival, admitted that she started well, but “she got a little out of line and started losing a level of professionalism that I think she needed to hold.” He then referred to the Beetlejuice moment, “the real issue I have is when you come home to your home state, and then you start doing very disrespectful things.”

Another Republican spoke against Boebert

Colorado House Republican leader Mike Lynch will compete for the retiring Ken Buck’s seat in Colorado’s fourth district. A former U.S. Army officer told the Denver Post that Boebert’s entry was “unfortunate because of the political theater she brings to the race.” He added he was “shocked that anyone would have the hubris to make such a move. To assume that the state needs her so bad that she’d switch her constituent bases was shocking.”

But there’s more

One of the highest-ranking elected Republicans in Colorado is worried “there will be significant down-ballot consequences – and that she will drive Democratic turnout that could affect other races and potentially even the CD4 race. It could also drive unaffiliated to the primary to vote against her.”

Not everyone is against Boebert

Despite several in-depth reports claiming that Boebert’s switch was a tremendous mistake, Jerry Sonnenberg, a Logan County commissioner and Bobert’s rival in the GOP primaries, said, “I welcome her to the fourth district,” adding, “I look forward to representing her as her congressman, quite frankly.”

Boebert seems to be more worried about the “Deep State”

The Republican firebrand recently shared on X, “They’re going to do everything they can to keep President Trump from the White House again. The Deep State has shown us they will stop at absolutely nothing to do it.” Source: Independent
