The former Vice President further shared about Trump’s second term, “Every meeting I go to internationally, as they’re walking out, this is the God’s truth […] virtually every one of them pull me aside and says, ‘You’ve got to win. We can’t let that happen again. You can’t let that happen again. You can’t let that happen again.”

Obama said in 2018, “I never expected that my successor would embrace my vision or continue my policies,” adding, “I did hope, for the sake of our country, that Donald Trump might show some interest in taking the job seriously, that he might come to feel the weight of the office and discover some reverence for the democracy that had been placed in his care.” Obama concluded that he never did.

Bill Clinton, who also served two terms in the Oval Office, called out Trump in 2020, “Donald Trump says we’re leading the world. Well, we are the only major industrial economy to have its unemployment rate triple.” He added, “There’s only chaos” in Trump’s White House.
