Trump Nominated for Nobel Peace Prize for the 4th Time

Republican Congresswoman Claudia Tenney has nominated Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, highlighting his pivotal role in the Abraham Accords.

This agreement, inked in September 2020, was a significant move by Trump’s administration, bringing Israel, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates together to normalize relations and ease tensions in the Middle East.

Morocco and Sudan also joined in similar pacts in the months that followed.

Speaking to Fox News, Tenney stated, “For decades, bureaucrats, foreign policy ‘professionals’, and international organizations insisted that additional Middle East peace agreements were impossible without a resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. President Trump proved that to be false.”

A Nobel-Worthy Act?

She drew a parallel to past peace agreements in the region that had been recognized by the Nobel committee, noting the absence of recognition for Trump’s involvement in these historic accords.

The Abraham Accords, while recognized for improving Israeli-Arab relations, have faced criticism for their limited impact on the Israeli-Palestinian issue. Claudia Tenney, emphasizing this context, has reiterated the importance of Donald Trump’s Nobel Peace Prize nomination.

“The valiant efforts by President Trump in creating the Abraham Accords were unprecedented and continue to go unrecognized by the Nobel Peace Prize Committee, underscoring the need for his nomination today,” Tenney argued.

She added, “Now more than ever, when Joe Biden’s weak leadership on the international stage is threatening our country’s safety and security, we must recognize Trump for his strong leadership and his efforts to achieve world peace.”

Notably, in September 2020, he was nominated by Norwegian parliament member Christian Tybring-Gjedde for his instrumental role in facilitating the Abraham Accord.

In his Facebook announcement, Tybring-Gjedde praised Trump for his role in the “groundbreaking cooperation agreement between the United Arab Emirates and Israel.” He emphasized that this accord could pave the way for enduring peace between Israel and several Arab nations.

Breaking Decades-Old Patterns

In a Fox News interview, he noted Trump’s significant break from a 39-year pattern of U.S. presidents engaging in wars or international conflicts, a record last maintained by Nobel laureate Jimmy Carter.

Tybring-Gjedde, from Norway’s Progress Party, previously nominated Trump in 2018 following his meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

One month following Christian Tybring-Gjedde’s nomination, Finnish European Parliament member Laura Huhtasaari, from the right-wing Finns Party, also nominated Donald Trump for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize.

Huhtasaari’s nomination recognizes Trump’s efforts “to end the era of endless wars, construct peace by encouraging conflicting parties for dialogue and negotiations, as well as underpin internal cohesion and stability of his country.”

Trump garnered a third nomination from a group of Australian lawmakers for his role in promoting Middle Eastern peace. Eminent law professor David Flint, speaking to Sky News Australia, praised Trump’s doctrine for moving America away from its history of engaging in “endless wars.”

“So he’s reducing America’s tendency to get involved in any and every war. The states are lining up, Arab and Middle-Eastern, to join that network of peace which will dominate the Middle-East,” Flint continued.

“He is really producing peace in the world in a way in a which none of his predecessors did, and he fully deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.”
