Ann Coulter’s Bold Suggestion for Donald Trump: ‘Maybe he could die?’

When asked about what Donald Trump could do to ‘help us take America back,’ conservative commentator Ann Coulter bluntly suggested, ‘Maybe he could die?’

In a post on X, the platform previously known as Twitter, Ann Coulter continued her trend of hostility towards Trump, particularly regarding his political future. Answering a user’s question about what Trump needs to do to ‘help us take America back,’ Coulter sharply retorted, ‘Maybe he could die?’

From Endorsement to Hostility

Once a staunch supporter, Coulter, who endorsed Trump in 2016 and wrote ‘In Trump We Trust: E Pluribus Awesome!’, has since become a vocal critic. She accuses the former president of ‘betraying’ his base by not completing the US-Mexico border wall, aimed at stopping undocumented immigration.

Coulter has described Trump as ‘the biggest wimp ever to serve,’ a ‘gigantic baby,’ and someone who ‘can barely speak English.’

She attributed Trump’s 2016 success entirely to his immigration policies, as she explained in August, “The only reason he crushed in 2016 is because of immigration – the wall, deport illegal immigrants, the [Muslim] travel ban.”

Ann Coulter expressed admiration for Ron DeSantis, who quit the presidential race earlier this year, remarking, “That is DeSantis this time – without the total lack of interest in carrying it out.”

DeSantis announced his withdrawal following a distant second-place finish to Trump in the Iowa caucuses, leaving South Carolina governor Nikki Haley as Trump’s sole GOP opponent.

Controversial Remarks

Despite her favorable comments on DeSantis, Coulter hasn’t endorsed anyone in the GOP primaries, focusing her efforts on attacking those who don’t advocate for a total border overhaul.

Last year, she controversially told Nikki Haley, a U.S.-born citizen, to ‘Go back to your own country.’

Renewed Critique

Recently, Coulter renewed her critique of Trump’s immigration policies. She expressed skepticism on X about Trump’s border policies, saying, “Trump won’t close the border. He’ll push for amnesty, allow anchor babies and sanctuary cities to continue, ban bump stocks, propose taking guns away without due process and hire half of Goldman Sack.”

Coulter also dismissed the presidential election as ‘worthless,’ urging focus on the House and Senate instead.

Trump’s Border Promises

Trump, meanwhile, has promised more border wall construction and stricter asylum limits, including reinstating the ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy. Trump previously branded Coulter a ‘has-been’ and a ‘stone cold loser.’

Immigration Shortcomings

Coulter, initially gaining recognition for her criticism of former President Bill Clinton, has been a vocal advocate for conservative ideologies. Her support for Trump during and after the 2016 election eventually faded, primarily due to his immigration policy shortcomings.

Her dissatisfaction centered on Trump’s endorsement of ‘DREAMers’ and his failure to build the border wall with Mexico.

By 2018, she identified as a ‘former Trumper,’ famously declaring in September 2017, ‘Put a fork in Trump, he’s dead,’ – a sentiment echoing a Breitbart News commenter’s reaction cited in a Washington Post article regarding Trump’s stance on the DREAM Act.

‘Trumpism Without Trump’

Her support for Trump, evident in her 2016 endorsement, was notably absent in the 2020 election, which saw Trump losing to Joe Biden. In a November 2020 speech, Coulter suggested the party should adopt ‘Trumpism without Trump,’ advocating for his policies minus his personal involvement.

She commented in August at a speaking event, “I don’t think Trump will be the nominee, but you’d really do the country a solid if you could get Democrats to stop indicting him,”
