Former President Trump verbally attacked Judge Engoron following a bomb threat and revealed how he feels about the Judge in his new case in a wordy Truth Social post.
Ex-prosecutor on Trump’s behavior
MSNBC’s Alex Witt talked to former federal prosecutor Kristy Greenberg. This came as Trump’s civil fraud trial came to an end, and another civil trial, brought on by E.Jean Carroll, was about to start. The former President started with attacks on Arthur Judge Engoron.
Things turned wild
During the final days of the NYC trial case brought on by NY AG James, Trump stated, according to MSNBC, “This is a fraud on me,” adding, “The person in the room right now hates Trump,” and “They should pay me for what we went through.” The Judge asked Trump’s attorney to “control his client.”
“Circus act”
The MSNBC host asked the ex-federal prosecutor whether this was the “circus act” the Judge wanted to avoid. Secondly, the host wondered if this behavior would flow in the second civil trial, which is supposed to start in the week of January 16. Greenberg initially stated, “The judge should never have allowed Trump to speak.”
“Temper tantrum”
The former federal prosecutor elaborated, “This was clearly going to be a temper tantrum thrown by a toddler,” adding that Trump had already testified and declined to testify a second time. Greenberg continued, “The Judge shouldn’t be asking Trump’s lawyer to control his client. The Judge needs to control his own courtroom, and he should have shut this down!”
The bomb threat
To make matters worse, Judge Engoron had a bomb threat earlier in the morning, Greenberg confirmed, and added, “Hours later, you have Donald Trump attacking the Judge personally. He is fanning the flames, and he poses a grave danger to any civil servant who may deliver some measure of accountability to him.”
Judge Kaplan will not buy it
Greenberg proclaimed that Trump won’t get away with this in Judge Kaplan’s courtroom, adding, “Judge Kaplan is a tough cookie; he suffers no fools, and there will be no nonsense in his courtroom.”
The ruling in the NYC fraud case
Judge Ergodon said he will likely decide on his ruling by January 31. Despite insults, including “Racist A.G. Letitia ‘Peekaboo’ James,” the NYAG said, “This case has never been about politics or personal vendetta or about name-calling. This case is about the facts and the law. And Mr. Donald Trump violated the law.”
James’ request
James asks for a $370M plus interest fine against the former President and his companies and a lifetime ban from the real estate industry in the state. The NYAG also asked for a five-year ban for Trump’s oldest sons, Eric and Don Jr. Greenberg said that what “really scares Trump” would be the lifetime ban barring him from participating in the real estate industry.” She called it “the corporate death penalty.”
Trump failed to delay the E. Jean Carroll trial
The former President asked for a postponement of the civil trial brought on by E. Jean Carroll, citing the death of his wife’s mother. Judge Kaplan denied the motion, and Trump exploded on Truth Social, “Crazed, Trump hating Judge, Lewis Kaplan, who presided over the Election Interference Witch Hunt, disguised as a trial, of a woman I have never met before (celebrity photo line does not count – I had no idea who she was!), was asked if he could delay this Rigged Political Scam for one day so that I could attend the FUNERAL OF MY BELOVED MOTHER-IN-LAW WITH MY WIFE, THE FORMER (AND NEXT!) FIRST LADY OF THE UNITED STATES — AND HE SAID NO.”
But, there was more
Trump further noted, “He is a bad person and an even worse Judge. Appointed by, and friends with, Clinton, he purposely scheduled this HOAX right in the middle of the important New Hampshire Primary. This is the second trial concerning the same person, who is represented and financed by POLITICAL OPERATIVES.”
“A really bad Judge”
“It could have taken place at any time, including months ago. Can anyone imagine a husband not going to his wife’s mother’s funeral over a MADE UP STORY – A story that has been allowed to simmer by a really bad Judge who suffers from TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME!” Trump concluded.
New week, new trial
Roberta Kaplan, an attorney for Carroll, already warned in a filing, “If Mr. Trump appears at this trial, whether as a witness or otherwise, his recent statements and behavior strongly suggest that he will seek to sow chaos.” Though Trump told his supporters he would show up for the trial and “wouldn’t miss it for anything,” it remains to be seen.
