Trump’s oldest son shared thoughts on the border deal, or rather against it, by warning that some Republican Senators are “lying” about “trying to sneak a mass amnesty.”
Trump Jr. warning
The oldest son of the former president named and shamed three senators, writing on X, “Lankford, McConnell and Romney are all full of s..t and doing the bidding of Dems by lying thru their teeth about this.” He added, “They’re trying to sneak a mass amnesty for illegals into this deal, which is why actual Republicans are opposing it. We wanted a secure border, not AMNESTY!!!!”
State GOP censured Lankford
Lankford, an Oklahoma GOP Senator working on the bipartisan deal, was condemned and censured by Republicans in the state. Lankford went to Fox News, saying, “We all have an oath to the Constitution, and we have a commitment to say we’re going to do whatever we can to be able to secure the border.”
More accusations against the Senator
Lankford is “playing fast and loose with Democrats on our border policy not only disenfranchises legal immigrants seeking citizenship, but it also puts the safety and security of Americans in great danger,” the Oklahoma Republican Party (OKGOP) said.
Working with an enemy
OKGOP added he was working with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, a Democrat, on “an open-border deal to allow 5,000 illegal immigrants a day to enter and work in the United States.”
The former party chairman was appalled
The former party chairman, Anthony Ferate, did not like how Oklahoma Republicans dealt with the Senator, “Today, an extreme faction of the @officialOKGOP held a meeting without providing an official call to all members of the State Committee, including me, to attack Senator @jameslankford. Any vote taken by the OKGOP today was not legitimate and definitely does not represent the voice of all Oklahoma Republicans.”
Lankford’s interview on Fox
Lankford was asked, “Why give Biden this in an election year? He gets to take a victory lap?” The Oklahoma Senator stated, “Republicans 4 months ago would not give funding for Ukraine, Israel, & the border bc we demanded changes in policy… and now a few months later they’re like, ‘oh, just kidding.'”
Back to Trump Jr.
In a separate post, Donald Trump’s son asked for a break, writing, “The Lankford-Dem Ukraine bailout/mass amnesty bill would green-light 2 million illegals flooding into our country per year. That’s about twice the population of Dallas coming into America illegally every year. That’s their supposedly ‘strict’ border policy bill. Give me a break!”
Romney “is not part of the negotiation”
Senator Mitt Romney, who is retiring from politics, shared through a spokesperson to Newsweek that he’s “not part of the negotiation,” adding, “We’re waiting, like everyone else, to see what’s in the bill.” The Utah GOP Senator said on MSNBC that Trump’s efforts to kill the border deal are “appalling.”
Johnson said there will be no deal
Speaker Johnson sent a letter to Senators saying that even if the bipartisan deal passed through the Senate, it would be “dead on arrival” in the House. He also shared on X, “President Biden falsely claimed yesterday he needs Congress to pass a new law to allow him to close the southern border, but he knows that is untrue.”
McConnell’s private conversations
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who has been in politics for over four decades, warned other GOP senators about Trump’s opposition to the bill. According to CNN sources, McConnell told Republicans they were in a “quandary.” The same sources claim that McConnell reminded the congressional GOP that “there was no clear path ahead unless members were willing to compromise.”
Lankford on McConnell
The Oklahoma Senator commented on McConnell, “He was being very clear. Hey, we need to acknowledge this is part of the dialogue, and there are some people that oppose the bill based on the presidential politics issue rather than the crisis that’s actually occurring at the border.”
Trump on the “invasion”
The 45th president and likely GOP nominee wrote on Truth Social, “A Border Bill is not necessary to stop the millions of people, many from jails and mental institutions located all over the World, that are POURING INTO OUR COUNTRY. It is an INVASION the likes of which no Country has ever had to endure. It is not sustainable or affordable, and will, under Crooked Joe Biden, ONLY GET WORSE.”
Cruz, Noem echo Trump
Ted Cruz said on Fox News, “We don’t need a border bill. We achieved the lowest rate of illegal immigration in 45 years under Donald Trump.” Kristi Noem wrote on X, “The border deal would have done NOTHING to secure the border. In fact, it would have codified the open border!”
