Trump Booed While Promoting His Pricey Gold Sneakers

Former President Trump presented gold sneakers, which he dubbed the first official Trump footwear, at the Philadelphia Convention Center. During the presentation, Trump got booed, but the good news is that the limited edition sneakers quickly sold out.

The  $399 shoe came days after Trump was ordered to pay over $350 million plus interest in the New York civil fraud trial. The gold shoes, sold as limited edition, also featured an American flag, red soles, and a T for Trump. Trump chose Sneaker Con to present his design, held in Philadelphia, which explains the not-so-warm welcome.

While talking about the gold footwear, Trump declared, “I’ve wanted to do this for a long time.” He continued, “I have some incredible people that work with me on things, and they came up with this. And this is something I’ve been talking about for 12 years, 13 years, and I think it’s going to be a big success.”

Trump is also selling Victory47 perfume and cologne for $99 a bottle. If elected in November, Trump would become the 47th president. But for that to happen, he needs to overcome numerous legal issues, starting with a criminal trial set for March 25 regarding the alleged falsification of business documents.

Trump was not among his usual supporters since most people simply went to Sneaker Con, a marketplace where you can buy, sell, and trade authentic shoes. But that does not mean that the appearance was not a success. Trump sold all 1000 pairs, including ten pairs he signed.

The autographed pair went for $9000

AtlasEternal13 shared a video on X with the caption, “This gentleman won autographed Trump sneakers with a $9000 bid at Sneakercon.” Roman Sharf, the buyer, said, “Passing these down to my kids, but for now will display in the office.”

This is not an unusual move for Trump

Previously, the 45th president sold a series of digital trading cards. The cards showed Trump as a superhero, an astronaut, and more. The sneaker business is “not political and has nothing to do with any political campaign,” according to the website. Trump also sold Never Surrender merchandise after surrendering to the Fulton County authorities.

The website describes the new Trump footwear, “The Never Surrender sneakers are your rally cry in shoe form.” Adjectives used are “true collector’s item,” and “bold gold,” and “tough, just like President Trump.” The same website offers charms with Trump’s face in superhero costumes in red, white, blue, and gold.

GetTrumpSneakers.com also offers T-Red Wave sneakers for $199. These are red, with T and 45 as details. Another pair is white with gold details and a sign POTUS45. Both pairs include the American flag. If you get two pairs, you get a small discount.

Michael Tyler, communications director for the president’s re-election campaign, joked that Trump ripped off two big fashion names, “Donald Trump showing up to hawk bootleg Off-Whites is the closest he’ll get to any Air Force Ones ever again for the rest of his life.”

Trump’s legal bills are piling up

The AP reported that the former president owes a half-billion dollars, and that’s only from two civil cases. Before the last verdict, Trump was ordered to pay $83.3 million to the writer E. Jean Carroll for defamation. He also owes $110,000 for refusing to comply with a subpoena.

Trump’s GoFundMe page

Trump’s followers started a GoFundMe page to help with the legal fees despite Trump’s worth surpassing several billions. This prompted many to question MAGA followers, with X user @BlueOC1981 asking, “Let me get this straight: someone started a GoFundMe for the over $300 million that Trump owes, and people have actually contributed to it?” They added, “My god, the MAGAs are truly some of the dumbest people on this planet.”
