In November, the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) selected Greenbelt, Maryland, to be home to the new FBI headquarters instead of D.C. Trump wrote on Truth Social that FBI headquarters should stay in D.C.

“The FBI headquarters should not be moved to a far-away location, but should stay right where it is, in a new spectacular building, in the best location on our now crime-ridden and filthy-dirty, graffiti-scarred, capital,” the 45th president wrote.

FBI Director Christopher Wray was forced to deny accusations of the FBI’s involvement in the January 6 riots. Wray stated, “If you are asking whether the violence at the Capitol on January 6 was part of some operation orchestrated by FBI sources and/or agents, the answer is emphatically no.”

The former president further wrote on Truth Social, “An important part of my platform for president is to bring back, restore, and rebuild Washington D.C. into the ‘crown jewel’ of the nation. We will make it crime-free and great again.”

Trump continued, “The FBI should not be fleeing for safer, yet much less convenient, environs. It should make where they are now the safest place on Earth. Don’t move the FBI.”

In a post to Gettr, Steve Bannon wrote, “Mr. President, the FBI Will Need NEITHER A NEW BUILDING OR THEIR EXISTING ONE—BECAUSE THEY MUST BE SHUT DOWN.” He is not the only Republican to express similar views.

DeSantis said something similar

The presidential hopeful, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, criticized the former president, “Donald Trump failed to drain the swamp, so perhaps it is not surprising that he is seeking to deepen the swamp by building a massive new FBI building in D.C.” In his X post, Desantis added, “Actually, draining the swamp requires taking power out of D.C., not cementing power inside D.C.”

The youngest Republican presidential hopeful wrote on X, “The FBI can’t be ‘reformed.’ The right answer is: Shut it down. Yes, the president can do it. I will.”

Thomas Massie, a Kentucky Republican, shared on X, “Let’s be clear, the FBI does not need a spectacular new building.”

On a podcast, Human Events Daily with Jack Posobiec, Bannon predicted, “We’re going to have a big fight, it will take place in the spring, will be — they’re going to try to force Nikki on the ticket.”

Bannon added, “They’ll say Trump needs a woman — Nikki — on the ticket. She balances things.” Bannon believes that’s not the truth, “If Nikki Haley is in this administration, in any capacity, it will fail. Well, she’s a viper. She’s a viper.”

“This is populist nationalism versus elite globalism. And if you see Republicans that are not in our camp, they’re, by and large, elite globalists, the Mitt Romneys of the world,” Bannon added, and continued, “The people in the Senate, Kevin McCarthy … neoliberal Nikki.”
