Putin Holds Financial Power Over Trump, Nancy Pelosi Suggests

Nancy Pelosi, the former House Speaker, stated that Donald Trump’s remarks on Russia imply that Vladimir Putin might have a financial grip on the leading Republican candidate.

Pelosi’s comments came during an MSNBC interview with Jen Psaki, a Democrat and ex-White House press secretary under Biden, who questioned Pelosi about Trump’s response to Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny’s death.

Joe Biden and other U.S. politicians have blamed Putin for Navalny’s death in a prison camp. However, Psaki noted it took Trump three days to react to Navalny’s death, and rather than condemning Putin, he likened it to his own legal issues in a Truth Social post.

“The sudden death of Alexei Navalny has made me more and more aware of what is happening in our country,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, adding, “It is a slow, steady progression, with CROOKED, Radical Left Politicians, Prosecutors, and Judges leading us down a path to destruction.”

Pelosi, the former speaker, sharply rebuked Trump’s comments as being “beneath the dignity of a human being.”

“It is so horrible you think somebody must have made this up… This statement should disqualify him from running for anything, much less president of the United States,” she added.

Theory on Trump-Putin Relationship

Pelosi pondered the nature of Putin’s hold over Trump, questioning why he consistently seems subservient to Putin, referring to him as his ‘buddy… in vileness.'”

Financial Motives?

Pelosi further questioned the nature of Putin’s influence over Trump, asking, “What does he (Putin) have on Donald Trump that he would have to constantly be catering to Putin, telling Putin, go into these countries, NATO countries?

She expressed uncertainty but speculated that it might be financial, either due to existing financial leverage or future financial expectations.

Controversial NATO Remarks

In a recent statement, Donald Trump openly declared he would urge Russia to act freely against any NATO member who fails to meet defense spending requirements. This surprising stance indicates his willingness to disregard NATO’s collective defense commitment if he’s reelected.

Financial Expectations from NATO Allies

At a South Carolina rally, Trump recalled demanding increased payments from NATO countries, stating he would not protect those who don’t pay. Trump remembered a conversation with a leader, saying he’d ‘encourage’ Russia’s actions against them if they didn’t meet financial obligations.

“No, I would not protect you,” He recalled telling that president. “In fact, I would encourage them to do whatever the hell they want. You got to pay. You got to pay your bills.”

Biden responded by asserting that Trump “is making it clear that he will abandon our NATO allies,”  highlighting the serious implications of such a stance.

“Trump’s admission that he intends to give Putin a greenlight for more war and violence, to continue his brutal assault against a free Ukraine, and to expand his aggression to the people of Poland and the Baltic States are appalling and dangerous,” the President stated.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg also expressed concern, stating that Trump’s remarks on the alliance endanger both European and American troops. Stoltenberg emphasized, “Any attack on NATO will be met with a united and forceful response.”

Stoltenberg further warned. “Any suggestion that allies will not defend each other undermines all of our security, including that of the US, and puts American and European soldiers at increased risk.”
