MyPillow’s Mike Lindell Hit with $5M Bill in 2020 Election Data Dispute

On Wednesday, a federal judge upheld a $5 million arbitration decision against MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell.

This ruling favors a software engineer who disputed Lindell’s claims about China meddling in the 2020 U.S. presidential election, allegedly tipping it in Joe Biden’s favor.

Lindell, determined to challenge the decision, stated his intention to appeal. When asked about his ability to pay, he emphasized that the breach-of-contract lawsuit targeted Lindell Management LLC, his company, rather than him personally.

Lindell confidently remarked, “Of course we’re going to appeal it. This guy doesn’t have a dime coming.”

‘Prove Me Wrong’ Challenge

Mike Lindell, widely known for his baseless assertions about voting machine tampering in the 2020 election, initiated the “Prove Mike Wrong Challenge” during his “Cyber Symposium” in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, in August 2021.

As part of the challenge, Lindell, through Lindell Management, promised a $5 million reward to anyone who could disprove the authenticity of the “packet captures” and other data he presented as evidence from the November 2020 election.

Challenging Lindell

Robert Zeidman stepped up with a 15-page report, arguing that Lindell’s data lacked any actual packet information and had no ties to the November 2020 election.

Despite this, a panel of judges for the contest, including a lawyer from Lindell’s team, did not recognize Zeidman as the winner. Consequently, Zeidman pursued arbitration as outlined in the contest’s rules.

The $5 Million Verdict

Last April, a trio of arbitrators unanimously mandated that Mike Lindell pay Robert Zeidman $5 million, acknowledging Zeidman’s compliance with the contest rules.

In the recent judgment, U.S. District Judge John Tunheim noted his reservations about the “poorly written contract” at the contest’s core, but recognized the limited power courts hold to overturn arbitration decisions.

Consequently, he ordered Lindell to settle the payment, including interest, within 30 days.

$1.3 Billion Lawsuit

Lindell is embroiled in a $1.3 billion defamation lawsuit by Dominion Voting Systems in the District of Columbia, accusing him of falsely claiming they rigged the 2020 election. He’s also facing a separate defamation suit in Minnesota from another voting machine company, Smartmatic.

A Financial Hit

Lindell has admitted to financial difficulties for him and MyPillow, highlighted by Fox News ceasing MyPillow ads over a payment disagreement in January and two law firms representing him against Dominion and Smartmatic lawsuits withdrawing last fall due to unpaid fees.

Lindell, in a conversation with The Associated Press, acknowledged his financial struggles, stating that he’s “out of money” and recognizes that his attorneys have their own financial needs.

Legal Representation Crisis

In a court filing on, Attorney Andrew Parker noted that his and another firm representing MyPillow in the Smartmatic and Dominion Voting Systems lawsuits cannot sustain the financial burden of continuing representation.

He emphasized that going forward with the case would place the firms “in serious financial risk.”

Severe Financial Losses

Mike Lindell described a severe financial blow to MyPillow, stating, “We’ve lost hundreds of millions of dollars,” and noted that his remaining major assets are his home and pickup truck.

He attributed the losses to Dominion, Smartmatic, and media outlets, including Fox News and Newsmax, accusing them of wanting him to stop discussing election security.

Fighting On

Despite the challenges, Lindell remains resolute, vowing to continue both the legal battle and MyPillow’s operations. He emphasized that he has no other debts and no intention of declaring bankruptcy for himself or MyPillow.
