Missouri GOP Senator Seeks to Exclude Biden from State Ballot in Retaliatory Move

Missouri State Senator Bill Eigel, a Republican, plans to introduce legislation to disqualify President Joe Biden from the state’s ballot. This move is a response to efforts in Maine and Colorado to remove former president Donald Trump from their ballots.

The Colorado Supreme Court and Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows have removed Donald Trump from Republican primary ballots by invoking Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment, which disqualifies individuals who engage in insurrection against the Constitution after taking an oath to support it.

Their decision was based on Trump’s alleged involvement in the events of January 6, 2021, when rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol.

The former president, however, has denied his involvement in the incident and has appealed both rulings.

While Republicans nationwide have explored ways to prevent Joe Biden from appearing on state primary ballots due to issues at the southern border, Senator Eigel’s legislation marks the first official attempt.

Eigel criticizes Biden’s immigration policies, accusing him of causing unprecedented harm to the country by allowing over 8 million people to cross the southern border illegally.

“By the Democrats’ own standard, Joe Biden should be immediately disqualified and removed from the ballot for the ‘aid and comfort’ he has given our enemies.” the state Senator said in a statement.

Eigel, also vying for the governorship, concedes that his legislative push is to expose the “absurdity” of the actions against Trump in Colorado and Maine.

Fighting Back

“If radical leftists continue to push lies and fairytales in an attempt to kick Trump off the ballot in their states, Republicans have no choice but to buck up and fight back — use the facts to remove Biden from the ballot before he destroys this country even further,” Eigel contended.

Exposing Double Standards

The Missouri senator criticized the Democrats, alleging they only endorse democratic principles when it serves their interests. He called for a Republican stance against this double standard “to protect the security of our nation and the sovereignty of our people.”

Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft supported Eigel’s initiative, criticizing actions in Colorado and Maine. He cautioned that he and other state secretaries would counter these decisions if the Supreme Court did not overturn them.

He added, “While I expect the Supreme Court to overturn this, if not, Secretaries of State will step in & ensure the new legal standard for [Donald Trump] applies equally to [Joe Biden]!”

Warning of Chaos

“I’m 99 percent certain the Supreme Court will stop it, but if they don’t, chaos is ahead, and we’ve got to avoid it,” Ashcroft cautioned in an interview with NBC.
