Jen Psaki commented on the Supreme Court’s decision to decline an appeal brought by Marjorie Taylor Greene and two other House Republicans over a mask mandate enforced by then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi during the pandemic. MSNBC host called out Greene and greeted the “satisfying” decision.

Greene, Thomas Massie, and Ralph Norman were fined in May 2021, during the height of the pandemic, with $500 each for their first offense. But, Greene racked up $100,000 in fines, over half of her reported yearly salary, which is $174,000.

A Judge in D.C. rejected the appeal brought by the three far-right lawmakers in 2022. The Judge argued they could not sue Pelosi since she acted as a government official and “courts don’t have jurisdiction over Congress’ internal rules.” In 2023, they appealed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and got another rejection.

Going all the way to SCOTUS

During “Inside with Jen Psaki,” the host commented, “That’s right, Marjorie Taylor Greene took her Covid conspiracies all the way to the highest court in the land.” The justices, without comment, declined an appeal from the trio, which Psaki called a “satisfying” ruling while pointing out that people are awaiting to hear SCOTUS’ rulings in Trump’s cases.

“Decisive loss”

Psaki called the SCOTUS’ ruling “a decisive loss” for Congresswoman Greene. The MSNBC host reminded that Georgia firebrand tried to “overturn the hefty fine she earned for repeatedly refusing to wear a mask on the House floor during the pandemic.”

Former White House Press Secretary turned political analyst shared Greene’s refusal to wear masks “as thousands of people” died daily from the virus. Psaki then played a clip of Greene saying, “I refuse to wear a mask,” adding, “I am not vaccinated.” Greene continued by saying she would be standing for all the people who refuse to get vaccinated.

With a smile, Psaki delivered, “Eventually, it caught up with her. Financially.” Commenting on Greene’s $100,000 fine, Psaki chimed in, “That’s a lot of times refusing to wear a mask.” The former White House Press Secretary reminded, “The rules apply to you, Marjorie Taylor Greene.” She quipped, “Mask up or pay up!”

Greene’s dubious theories

Recently, California representative Garcia brought up Greene’s anti-vax and anti-mask stance during a House hearing in February 2024. While referring to her 2021 tweets, Garcia shared, “The same person that is actually attacking vaccines said that ‘vaccinated employees get a vaccination logo just like the Nazis forced Jewish people to wear a gold star.’ That is the level of insanity and attacks that we’re having here.”

Exposing the “truth”

The theories did not end after the pandemic emergency. Greene vowed in November 2023 to expose the “truth.” She wrote on X, “They lied to us for years. Alongside a panel of expert witnesses, I’ll be exposing the TRUTH behind the COVID-19 vaccines.”

Greene’s priorities

In October 2023, Greene shared her list of demands for then yet-to-be-elected House Speaker, including “No money for COVID anything.” She added, “Stop funding a proxy war with Russia in Ukraine,” and “Stop the weaponized government,” and more.

In 2021, Greene was on Steve Bannon’s podcast, where she declared, “I’m not vaccinated, and I’m not getting vaccinated because I’m an American.” She also complained, “They’re ruining our country, these vaccine Nazis.”

Her right to choose

The anti-abortion lawmaker told Bannon, “I can choose what I want to do with my body. I have the freedom to decide if I want to get a vaccine or not get a vaccine. I do not care who tells me to get one.”

Lawyers for the House Speaker welcomed the decision

Lawyers for the current House speaker, Mike Johnson, Louisiana Republican, supported the trio but told the Supreme Court, “This case is not about the wisdom of the rule or whether it was based on sound science.”
