Elena Cardone, married to Grant Cardone, a Miami-based private equity manager, spearheaded the funding effort, urging public support to combat judicial bias and address flaws in the legal system.

Cardone, self-described as “an ardent supporter of American values and an advocate for justice,” stated on the page that the fundraiser intended to enable “patriots” who “stand with Trump” to demonstrate “our collective strength and resolve.”

Her husband Grant Cardon on X stated, “Give something & DEMONSTRATE that the people of America are standing together against unjust rulings like this where a bias judges & corrupt legal system is out of control.”
Bias Platform
However, Laura Loomer, a far-right figure, advised against donating via GoFundMe, criticizing the platform’s alleged liberal bias and suggesting an alternative Christian crowdfunding site known for its leniency towards controversial campaigns.
“Anti-Trump and liberal”
“GoFundMe is anti-Trump and liberal,” Loomer stated, expressing her preference for GiveSendGo due to its openness to conservative causes, highlighting her own ban from GoFundMe since 2018.
White Nationalism Supporter
Loomer, who identifies as a “proud Islamophobe” and has voiced support for white nationalism, has recently undertaken several unsuccessful congressional campaigns in Florida.
2024 Campaign Consideration
She was also under consideration for a role in Trump’s 2024 campaign, although his associates dissuaded him from it.
Greene Blasted Loomer
Following reports suggesting Trump’s intention to hire Loomer, Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, whose influence seems to be expanding within the GOP, blasted Loomer.
“Mentally Unstable”
“Laura Loomer is mentally unstable and a documented liar. She can not be trusted, Greene tweeted.

As per Vice’s report from January, the underwhelming turnout was probably influenced by theories circulating in right-wing circles suggesting that the convoy could be a government “psyop” or “honeypot” trap designed to lure individuals into engaging in violence.

Many others on X also responded to the GoFundMe page by ridiculing it and those who donated while questioning why a billionaire would require crowdfunding assistance to cover the fine.
