Republican Representative Lauren Boebert’s 18-year-old son was arrested on nearly two dozen charges following a series of robberies in Rifle, Colorado.
Police confirmed the news
18-year-old Tyler Jay Boebert was arrested on Tuesday after a “recent string of vehicle trespass and property thefts,” the Rifle Police Department confirmed. Robert’s son was booked into the Garfield County jail.
The charges
Among the charges against the 18-year-old are four counts of criminal possession of a financial device, four counts of criminal possession of ID documents, one count of conspiracy to commit a felony, ID theft, three misdemeanor counts of first-degree criminal trespass, three misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and three counts of the petty offense of theft.
Ongoing investigation
The Rifle PD said in a Facebook post, “This is an ongoing investigation. No further information will be released at this time. All suspects are considered innocent until adjudicated guilty in a court of law.”
Family drama
In 2022, Boebert’s son called 911 to report that his father, Jayson Boebert, was “throwing” him around the house. The police officers were on their way to the Boebert’s home when the teen called again, and Lauren Boebert told the dispatcher that her son “doesn’t need help.”
Jayson Boebert was arrested in January
Following the divorce in 2023, the representative’s former husband, Jayson Boebert, was arrested on six charges, including allegedly assaulting his son, Tyler. The Daily Beast obtained an affidavit that said, “During the physical altercation, Jayson stuck his right-hand thumb into Tyler’s mouth. While Jayson dug his thumb into Tyler’s mouth, Tyler felt that Jayson was going to pull his tooth out. Tyler confirmed this caused him pain.”
Restraining order
Boebert was granted a temporary restraining order against her ex-husband, Jayson Boebert, in early February 2024. She cited an altercation in a restaurant that reportedly happened on January 6 and the alleged assault on Tyler Boebert on January 9. Jayson Boebert told AP, “I would never harm Lauren. I just want to move on and be in peace.”
Previous allegations against the teenager
Noble D’Amato, Tyler’s friend, accused Lauren Boebert of covering up car crash details, allegedly caused by her son, who was 17 at the time. D’Amato told the Denver news site Westword that in September 2022, Tyler flipped his father’s SUV, and he ended up with multiple concussions.
Boebert’s case was dropped
Following the incident, D’Amato was charged with possession of Xanax and marijuana, while Tyler allegedly got a “careless driving causing bodily injury” ticket. Following a reported plea, it was downgraded to “a defective vehicle for headlights” ticket. D’Amato claimed that the family was trying to hide the extension of his injuries.
36-year-old grandma
Tyler, Boebet’s oldest of four boys, became a father last year. Boebert announced the news in March 2023 during the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) Moms for America event. She praised teens who choose not to get abortions. Boebert confirmed the baby’s arrival following an argument with Marjorie Taylor Greene.
No time for drama
During an interview with Sean Hannity, Boebert refused to comment on her argument with Marjorie Taylor Greene and declared, “Sean, I did not put my life on pause and leave my four boys and my now grandson to come here and just get in spats with people.”
The mom of four
Boebert and her ex-husband had four children between 2005 and 2011, all boys: Tyler, Brody, Kaydon, and Roman. She dropped out of high school to raise Tyler, and a few months before winning election to the House of Representatives, she got her GED. Jayson and Lauren Boebert had a gun-themed restaurant, Shooters Grill, which served dishes like “M16 burrito.”
Boebert’s arrests
Lauren Boebert also clashed with the law. Colorado Newsline reported that in 2015, Boebert was arrested for disorderly conduct at a country music festival. She missed two court appearances in 2015 and was arrested again, but the charges were dropped. In 2016, she was charged with careless driving. In 2010, Boebert was detained after her dogs allegedly attacked a neighbor’s dog.
Jayson Boebert’s previous arrests
Jayson Boebert spent seven days in jail after an arrest in 2004 for “indecent exposure to a minor.” In 2004, he was also arrested over alleged domestic violence. Jayson and Lauren Boebert got married in 2005.
