The ex-GOP lawmaker, who was among a handful of Republicans who voted for Trump’s impeachment after the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot, wrote on X, “Good morning. My 2024 prediction: Trump will be a massive complaining, belly-aching, whining, weak, soft, annoying, incredibly sheepish, victim this entire coming year.”

Kinzinger, who was on the January 6 committee, added how Trump’s followers, or “his sheep,” will “desperately look at him with googly eyes for inspiration as they mimic his victimness.”

The former lawmaker questioned Trump’s faith

Kinzinger, like many others, was stunned by Trump’s Christmas message. The former representative wrote, “I’m going to go out on a NOT limb here: this man is not a Christian. If you are a Christian who supports him, you don’t understand your own religion.” He added, “Trump is weak, meager, smelly, victim-ey, belly-achey, but he ain’t a Christian, and he’s not Gods man.”

Trump, among other things, wrote on Truth Social, “THUGS we have inside our Country,” adding, “MAY THEY ROT IN HELL. AGAIN, MERRY CHRISTMAS!” Trump also shared, “Merry Christmas to all, including Crooked Joe Biden’s ONLY HOPE, Deranged Jack Smith, the out of control Lunatic who just hired outside attorneys, fresh from the SWAMP (unprecedented!), to help him with his poorly executed WITCH HUNT against ‘TRUMP’ and ‘MAGA.”

A long-time Republican representative, Kinzinger, also wrote in December, “I’m genuinely surprised how people close to Trump haven’t talked about the odor.” He continued, “It’s truly something to behold. Wear a mask if you can.”

Trump’s spokesperson fired back

Steven Cheung spoke to Newsweek and said Kinzinger “disgraced his country,” and added, “Adam Kinzinger farted on live TV and is an unemployed fraud.”

History will not be kind to Trump

Kinzinger also said in November 2023 while on MSNBC’s “Meet the Press Now” that “in five or ten years there’s not going to be a single person ― this is just my prediction ― in America that will ever admit they were a Trump supporter.”

Kinzingere elaborated, “I think once this emotion’s gone and this election passes, people are going to wake up, they have to, I hope they do, wake up to just how bad it had gotten.”

Politically homeless

The former GOP representative and an Air Force veteran of both Iraq and Afghanistan recently called himself politically “homeless” because he sees his party as “anti-constitutionalist.”

Still, he voted for Trump in 2020

Kinzinger was not always against the former president. He even admitted to voting for him in the 2020 elections, though his criticism grew with time. He also believes Trump will be the GOP’s nominee, “If I was betting Vegas odds right now, I would put all my money [that] Donald Trump will be the nominee.”

Kinziger on Meadows

Kinzinger told CBS, “Mark Meadows…who barely cooperated with the January 6th Committee, was actually our most valuable player,” while discussing his time in the January 6 committee. He continued, “The little bit he provided to us is the thing that set out the whole roadmap for all of January 6 and all the involvement of Trump.”

Kinzinger shared, “Now he’s cooperating. So there could be a lot more information that we don’t know.” It is unclear if Meadows made a deal with Jack Smith and the prosecutors. His office denied it, though many all but confirmed that Meadows is cooperating.

The ex-Republican representative explained to CBS, “Do I agree with everything Joe Biden’s doing? No, of course not. He’s a Democrat. I’m an old-school Republican, I’ll say. But I believe he’s a good man, and I believe he’s focused on the Constitution. I believe he’s not looking for reasons to violate the Constitution like Donald Trump is. I wouldn’t hesitate at all.”

Kinzinger added, “There’s no comparison in terms of who’s a bigger threat to democracy.”
