While on Fox and Friends, Steve Kochanowski said that the President did not keep up his promises and made an interesting observation. He said, “This wasn’t the Joe Biden that I voted for in 2020. This Joe Biden is now a Bernie Sanders lite.”

Promises, promises

The former Democrat, now proud GOP member, continued, “He came along, and he promised to be a unifier. He promised to bring the country together, and he’s done the exact opposite. And he’s let his own party dictate what he wants to do when he should be dictating what he wants to do.”

Not the only one

Pennsylvania’s Democrats signaled an alarming trend for the Biden administration after The Pennsylvania Department of State registration reported that more Democrats flipped than Republicans. The data says 35,589 registered Democrats switched their party affiliation to Republican. In contrast, 15,622 registered Republicans flipped to the Democratic party.

Many are disappointed

In addition to switching party affiliations, 20,908 former Democrats and 18,927 former Republicans no longer affiliate themselves with either party. Biden won the state by 80,000 votes, but his disapproval ratings in December 2023 hit a new high, with 61 percent of voters saying they were unhappy with his administration, The Commonwealth Foundation’s survey found.

20 Electoral College votes

The state carries 20 Electoral College votes, making it the fifth most significant in the USA. Winning the elections without winning Pennsylvania is extremely rare. In fact, it happened only twice between 1932 and 1988. Trump took the state in 2016, but Biden’s victory ended over two decades of red wave.

Biden would have no trouble winning in Philadelphia because the city has around 75 percent Democrat or Democrat-leaning voters. Counties outside the town, however, are booming with Republicans. Many believe this contrast comes from understanding the economy, as well as seeing it play out in real life.

Christopher Borick, a professor at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, commented that Biden should absolutely be worried. He told Post Gazette, “Biden and his team should certainly be concerned about the status of the overall race and the status of Pennsylvania.”

Still, there is time

Borick, who teaches political science, continued, “Despite some of the advantages of incumbency, the polls right now show him with lots of challenges. At the same time, people who might be writing a political obituary right now are certainly premature.”

Paul McHale, a former Democratic representative, shared that the Biden administration should be worried but not panicked. McHale added, “The time between now and the 2024 election is an eternity. There are so many things that can change, not only in the next few months but in the last few days. You have to play the long game.”

Numbers could be wrong

Chris Murphy, a US Senator from Connecticut, does not care about numbers, as he said, “I don’t worry too much about poll numbers a year from the election.” And there are many examples to prove him right.

Obama won twice despite low approval

In 2011, President Obama faced a 43% approval rating, missing the all-time high by one. Yet, Obama won the elections, and it was not the first time numbers were against him. Before becoming the Democratic nominee, all polls suggested he would lose to Hillary Clinton. But he won the elections instead.

Clinton’s chances of winning were massive. Though she won the popular vote, pollsters were baffled by the final results. Clinton’s losses in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin came as some of the biggest surprises in one of the wildest elections in modern US history.

Not enough

Still, Biden’s administration cannot rely on failed polls. Trump should not think he got the upcoming elections covered because of the surveys, though he certainly likes to write about them in his Truth Social posts.
