In a scathing critique, a Colorado Republican tore into Lauren Boebert, slamming her as a ‘hypocrite’ who betrayed her constituents to dodge defeat.

Don Coram, a former state Senator who took on Boebert in the 2022 race for the 3rd Congressional District but didn’t succeed, voiced his criticism in a statement to the Journal-Advocate.

District Switch Questioned

In his critique, Coram condemned her for switching to the 4th District — a strategic move presumably to evade a challenging reelection. Despite this, Boebert has faced unexpected stiff competition for her party’s nomination in the new district.

Political Survival or Betrayal?

“When the smoke finally cleared recently, and it was evident she might not win the 3rd CD Primary election and most certainly would lose in the General election, she bolted to the 4th CD, abandoning the people of the 3rd CD to save herself,” Coram stated.

‘Embarrassing antics’

“What happened to fighting for the people and what you believe in? Boebert’s record shows that she believes, ‘rules are for thee, but not for me.’ Did she truly not anticipate that her numerous embarrassing antics, spanning nearly two decades, coupled with a lackluster record of accomplishments, would go unnoticed?” he questioned.

Makeover Attacked

Coram pressed on with his critique against the congresswoman, accusing her of a superficial makeover to win over the voters in her new district.

All Show?

“Her new strategy appears to involve a rebranding effort — showcasing her store-bought “enhancements,” ditching the glasses, and donning a black cowboy hat — a formula she believes will make her the darling of the 4th CD,” he commented.

Political ‘Dog’ Doesn’t Hunt

Coram didn’t mince words in his critique, writing, “The term ‘all hat and no cattle’ seems like a pretty good description. That dog doesn’t seem likely to hunt. Boebert, a carpetbagger, is banking on people not doing their research.”

‘Desperate’ Efforts

Coram asserted that the people in the 4th CD are too savvy to be ‘fooled’ by her ‘desperate’ efforts to rescue her career.

He also remarked, “Especially now that she cannot fall back on her failed restaurant, which was already on a downward spiral leading up to its closure, or the support of her now ex-husband’s high-paying job obtained right after her 2020 win as a consultant with an oil & gas company for over $450,000 a year (it seems she cashed in quickly).”

Financial Motives

“This move to the 4th displays prominently that Lauren’s only interest and priority is protecting her celebrity status and keeping the only good-paying job she has had in her life. Kind of ironic for somebody who rails against ‘career politicians,’” he added.

‘Someone who will only embarrass you’

He went on to highlight that the residents of the 4th CD have a rich array of homegrown candidates in the primary, negating the need for an outsider who might cause embarrassment.

Family Roots in Political Landscape

He referenced a February 16, 2021, Denver Post article where former State Senator Kerry Donovan, initially a 3rd CD candidate before redistricting shifted her to the 2nd CD, affirmed her family ranch’s location in the 3rd CD and her representation of overlapping constituents as a State Senator for District 5.

Carpetbagger Branding

At the time, Boebert labeled Donovan a career politician, while Colorado GOP spokesman Joe Jackson warned Donovan of being branded a ‘carpetbagger.’ Donovan eventually withdrew from the race, citing moral and ethical reasons.

‘Hypocrisy anyone?’

Boebert’s response was that seeking office should be a calling, not a career move, and implied Donovan should pay more attention to “where she lives, works, and votes instead of trying to increase her political position by pandering to folks she doesn’t even know.”

“Hypocrisy anyone? What is good for the goose, is good for the gander!” Coram remarked.

Concluding his statement, he directly addressed Lauren: “if you have one ounce of moral fiber, either withdraw from the CD 4 race or publicly acknowledge that you yourself are a carpetbagging hypocrite.”
