Boris Johnson Says Trump’s White House Comeback Could Be a Global Win

Boris Johnson, in his latest Daily Mail column, says that another four-year term for President Trump might be ‘what world needs.’

World Game-Changer?

The former UK prime minister, whose tenure coincided with Trump’s for over a year, suggests that Trump’s re-election could be a global win, especially if he supports Ukraine against Russia.

Despite Trump’s hints at withholding support for Kyiv and his close ties with Russian President Putin, Johnson, a firm supporter of Ukraine, is confident that Trump won’t turn his back on them.

He wrote: “I simply cannot believe that Trump will ditch the Ukrainians; on the contrary, having worked out, as he surely has, that there is no deal to be done with Putin, I reckon there is a good chance that he will double down and finish what he started — by giving them what they need to win.”

Johnson further elaborates in his column, stating, “If that is the case, then there is every chance, under Trump, that the West will be stronger, and the world more stable.”

The World ‘Needs’ Trump

The former Conservative Party leader continued, arguing that “what the world needs now is a US leader whose willingness to use force and sheer unpredictability is a major deterrent to the enemies of the West.”

Solving the Ukraine Conflict in a Day

Despite being critical of NATO, Trump has boasted he could resolve Russia’s conflict with Ukraine in just a day. During an interview on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” by host Maria Bartiromo, he was confronted with these claims.

24-Hour Ukraine Solution

“These are smart people, including Macron of France. I could go through the whole list of people, including Putin.… These people are sharp, tough, and generally vicious. They’re vicious, and they’re at the top of their game. We have a man that has no clue what’s happening. It’s the most dangerous time in the history of our country,” Trump said.

How So?

“So what should be the response?” Bartiromo questioned. “You said you could end the war in Ukraine in 24 hours. How would you do that?”

“I know Zelensky very well. I felt he was very honorable because when they asked him about the perfect phone call that I made, he said it was indeed, he said it was. He didn’t even know what they were talking about. He could have grandstanded–” Trump responded before Bartiromo cut him off.

Ukraine Awaits

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently urged Trump to visit Kyiv. In a Channel 4 News interview, Zelensky stated, “Yes, please, Donald Trump — I invite you to Ukraine. If you can stop the war during 24 hours I think it will be enough to come to Kyiv on any day I am here.”

Johnson also acknowledged in his column that Trump, who is grappling with 91 felony charges in four criminal cases, has been caught making several ‘unguarded’ remarks. “But who hasn’t?” he questioned. “He who is without sin in this department, let him cast the first stone.”

Johnson, in his column, expressed admiration for Trump’s approach, dismissing the idea that he’s a ‘would-be dictator,’ despite accusations of his involvement in the Capitol riots to maintain power post his 2020 defeat to Joe Biden.

“As it happens I have always found him, personally, a model of old-fashioned courtesy and good manners. I must confess the truth: I like his style,” Johnson confessed.

“I like the vaguely African dance he does at his rallies, and I laugh at his essentially good-natured parodies of French president Emmanuel Macron and Biden,”

He also poked fun at the panic over Trump’s lead in the Republican race and his Iowa caucus victory, writing, “In the cocktail parties of Davos, I am told, the global wokerati have been trembling so violently that you could hear the ice tinkling in their negronis.”

Trade Ambitions

Furthermore, Johnson claimed that Trump is keen on ‘a proper free trade deal’ with post-Brexit Britain amidst last year’s fading hopes for an extensive trade agreement.
