During a Christian convention in Nashville, Tennessee, former President Trump shared his plans to close The Department of Education, praised the “tremendous spirit” of January 6 rioters, and repeated that Democrats kill babies after birth as part of their pro-abortion movement.
Trump continued talking about the 2020 elections
The former president and likely GOP nominee gave a speech at the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) International Christian Media Convention. Trump declared, “They rigged the election, and look at the mess our country is in right now,” adding, “It would have never happened, including inflation. Israel wouldn’t have been attacked, Ukraine wouldn’t have been attacked. China wouldn’t be thinking about Taiwan.”
Savage gangs and pro-life citizens
Trump noted how the open borders led to “an illegal alien invasion by the world’s most sadistic criminals and savage gangs while putting peaceful, pro-life citizens behind bars.” He declared how he made “Israel” the capital of Israel while referring to moving the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and praised “the J6 hostages.”
Speaking of “hostages”
Trump enthusiastically praised Capitol rioters for their “tremendous spirit.” During the 90-minute-long speech, the former president said about the January 6 rioters, “What’s happened to them is probably, to that extent, never happened in our country before.” He called them the “J6 hostages” and shared how they had the “spirit, explaining, “You would think they didn’t have any spirit left, but they have “tremendous spirit.” He repeated that what had happened to them never happened before.
“Everybody” agreed on Roe vs. Wade
The former president, who takes credit for overturning Roe vs. Wade, told the audience that “everybody” agreed with the SCOTUS’ decision to remove women’s rights. Trump repeated previous wild claims that Democrats kill babies “even after birth” and added how Christians who for Democrats must be “crazy.”
Trump struggled but turned to God
At some point, the former president declared “They want you to say what they want you… what they want to have you say. And we’re not gonna let that happen.” He likely realized that sounded a bit incoherent, so he announced, “You’re going to say as you want, and you’re going to believe, and you’re going to believe in God.”
God is watching
Trump told the audience, “You’re gonna believe in God because God is here and watching. And God probably can’t believe what he’s seeing!” In his conclusion, the ex-president, facing 91 criminal charges, said, “I will protect the content that is pro-God. We’re going to protect pro-God context and content.”
Other notable moments
Trump said he had plans to close down the Department of Education, and at some point shared, “No one will be touching the cross of Christ under the Trump administration, I swear to you.” That was right after declaring that the Biden administration was persecuting Roman Catholics.
Biden is Catholic
In fact, President Biden is the second Catholic POTUS in U.S. history after John F. Kennedy. While Trump promised Nashville Christians to “Bring back our religion,” David Mills recently wrote, “Trump shows no evidence that he cares about the practice of the faith, that he ever prays, reads his Bible, does anything because he thinks his religion requires it.”
Trump promised that people would soon see his wife
The ex-president told the gatherers that his wife, Melania Trump, would be on the 2024 campaign trail “quite a bit” during a recent Fox News town hall meeting. Trump added to Fox News’s Laura Ingraham, “Not because she likes doing it, but she likes the results.”
Trump, the Navalny of the USA
During Fox News town hall, Trump compared himself to the late Putin’s opponent, Alexei Navalny, who died in prison again. While talking about the New York verdict in the fraud case, Trump declared, “It’s a form of Navalny.” He added, “It is a form of communism or fascism.” Trump whined, “We are turning into a communist country in many ways, and if you look at it, I’m the leading candidate.”
Trump on McConnell
Trump told Ingraham, “He’ll probably end up endorsing me. I don’t know that I can work with him,” while discussing Mitch McConnell. Trump continued, “He gave away trillions of dollars that he didn’t have to, trillions of dollars. He made it very easy for the Democrats.”
Puzzling confessions
“These people, everybody in this room is in great danger right now,” Trump said. “We have a nuclear weapon that, if you hit New York, South Carolina is going to be gone too. I worry about their safety. I think it’s the reason I’m doing this.” The statements raised alarms, with national security lawyer Bradley Moss wondering, “Is Trump out there spilling the details on our nuclear weapons and the destructive range of those weapons in the midst of a Fox interview.”
