Trump Calls Out ‘Out-of-Control’ Judge Engoron in a Series of Fiery Posts

Former President Donald Trump has been openly critical of Judge Arthur F. Engoron on Truth Social, accusing the judge overseeing his fraud case in New York of being ‘out of control.’

A Crucial Week Ahead

On the legal horizon, this week stands out as potentially momentous for Donald Trump, with key decisions in several cases poised to shape his future.

A final ruling from Engoron, expected this week, could potentially cost Trump hundreds of millions and jeopardize his control over his business.

Key Dates Set

Another New York judge, Juan M. Merchan, might set a date this Thursday for Trump’s hush-money case — a case that could lead to the first criminal trial of a former U.S. president as soon as next month.

Trump has consistently denied any wrongdoing in both cases.

Accusations Fly

In a fiery post on Monday, the former president unleashed a scathing critique against  Letitia James, the New York attorney general who alleges he and his family inflated their property values by up to $2.2 billion, accusing her of being ‘corrupt.’

Political Witch Hunt

In his post, Trump accused James of being ignorant about his ‘tremendously successful business’ and claimed she targeted him politically, asserting that the lawsuits are a witch hunt aimed at weakening his 2024 election prospects.

Allegations of Bias

Trump then shifted his critique towards Judge Engoron, denouncing him as “the politically biased judge on this rigged case” who “refused to acknowledge that the Appellate Division has already ruled in my favor on Statute of Limitations, and effectively ended this litigation.”

Mar-a-Lago Valuation

Trump escalated his criticism on Truth Social, claiming Engoron, whom he views as ‘out of control’ and a ‘political operative,’ drastically undervalued Mar-a-Lago, estimating it at $18 million, far below Trump’s assessment of 50 to 100 times that figure.

Legal Milestone

Trump has consistently argued that the appeals court’s decision in June 2023 to exclude his daughter Ivanka Trump from the case marked a triumph for himself and his co-defendants.

Limited Scope

This ruling also restricted the scope of financial transactions subject to scrutiny in James’s lawsuit, setting cut-off dates for certain defendants. Despite this, the ruling did not completely dismiss the case.

Multiple Unfavorable Decisions

The appeals court has made several decisions in this matter, many unfavorable to Trump, including reinstating a gag order on the former president.

Engoron Branded as ‘Pawn’

In a subsequent post, Trump expressed his frustration at being denied a jury trial by Engoron, branding the judge ‘a pawn for the crooked attorney general, Letitia James,’ whom he accuses of exploiting the case for her failed gubernatorial bid.

Continuous Attacks

Since James initiated the fraud lawsuit, Trump has consistently attacked both her and Engoron, labeling them as Democrats on a politically driven mission to persecute him.

‘That whole approach is getting old’

In the latest development of the New York attorney general’s fraud case against Donald Trump, Judge Arthur Engoron has defended his inquiry into a potential guilty plea from Trump’s ally, Allen Weisselberg, dismissing claims of bias as ‘getting old.’

Recognition of ‘Victory’

In a Monday post on Truth Social, Trump insisted on the recognition of what he considers a ‘VICTORY’ from the Appellate Division, which he claims the judge begrudgingly acknowledged by removing Ivanka from the case, and called for the case’s termination.

Impartiality Questioned

Trump’s lawyers have argued that considering information not presented in the 45-day trial would be improper and question the court’s impartiality, while the attorney general’s office is pressing for a ruling.

Engoron Responds

In response to Trump’s attorney, Engoron, stated, “I have not taken, do not plan to take, and did not suggest or hint that I would take the Times article into consideration in my findings of fact.”

Innocence Claim

This case, filled with tension, hangs on the judge’s impending decision, which could have major implications for Trump’s New York business ventures. Trump is also facing 91 felony charges across four different criminal trials.

The former President maintains his innocence in all.
