Over 200 Military Personnel Demand Accountability for Vaccine Mandate Enforcement

Over 200 active and retired service members have signed an open letter that demands accountability from U.S. military leaders regarding enforcing the COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

Seeking Accountability through Court-Martial

The signatories intend to pursue legal actions, including compelling top military leaders to return from retirement to face court-martial and be held accountable.

“Military Leaders Broke the Law”

The letter, posted on a social media platform X on January 1, stated, “While implementing the COVID-19 vaccine mandate, military leaders broke the law, trampled constitutional rights, denied informed consent, permitted unwilling medical experimentation, and suppressed the free exercise of religion.”

In August 2021, following the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval of the Pfizer vaccine, the military mandated COVID-19 vaccination. 

98% of Active-Duty Personnel Vaccinated

By December 2022, approximately 98% of active-duty personnel were vaccinated. 

8,000+ Discharged for Non-Compliance

However, over 8,400 service members were discharged for non-compliance with this mandate. The requirement was eventually lifted in early 2023.

The letter noted that the military leaders “refused to resign or take any other action to hold themselves accountable, nor have they attempted to repair the harm their policies and actions have caused.”

Signatories Vow to Hold Leadership Accountable for Constitutional Rights

The signatories added that they would “Do everything morally permissible and legally possible to hold our leadership accountable. We intend to rebuild trust by demonstrating that leaders cannot cast aside constitutional rights or the law for political expediency.”

Vaccine Mandate’s Severe Consequences for Service Members

The letter also claims that the vaccine mandate led to severe consequences for service members, including financial and emotional distress, health issues, homelessness, and even death.

Dismissed Personnel Yet to Be Reinstate

Those dismissed for vaccine refusal have not been reinstated since the mandate’s rescission in early 2023.

Lloyd Austin’s Statement Regarding Discharged Personnel

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin stated in January 2023 that these individuals received honorable or general discharges, with the option to request a discharge reevaluation.

Letter Accuses Top Military Figures of Lawlessness

Top military figures, including Gen. Mark Milley and Gen. James McConville, were specifically named in the letter for their role, “These individuals enabled lawlessness and the unwilling experimentation on service members.

“Irreparable Harm to the Armed Forces”

The letter emphasized, “The moral and physical injuries they helped inflict are significant. They betrayed the trust of service members and the American people. Their actions caused irreparable harm to the Armed Forces and the institutions for which we have fought and bled.”

Milley and McConville’s Departure from the Army

Gen. Milley resigned as the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in October of last year. Gen. McConville served as the 40th chief of staff of the Army from 2019 up until 2023.

Veteran Congressional Candidates Emphasize Commitment to Liberty

Among the signatories are military veterans running for Congress, such as Cameron Hamilton and Chris Coulombe, who stressed their commitment to liberty and governmental accountability.

Hamilton stated on X, “I am committed to defending liberty and ensuring accountability within our government.” 

Chris Coulombe Stresses Military Values

Similarly, Chris Coulombe expressed pride in signing the letter, saying, “We’re calling for real accountability, seeking to repair the trust and uphold the values at the heart of our military.”
