Greene, a far-right member and staunch Trump supporter, lodged a complaint with the Georgia State Ethics Commission, accusing Willis of neglecting her duty to disclose personal financial details since the commencement of the high-profile Trump case, breaching state ethics and transparency standards.

Asserting the importance of transparency under the Georgia Campaign Finance Act, Greene’s complaint highlights Willis’ failure to submit personal financial disclosure statements for 2021 and 2022.

Undermining Public Trust

This omission, according to Greene, deliberately conceals potential conflicts of interest, undermining public trust.

Demanding Accountability

“Georgians have a right to know who exerts undue and unfair influence over their elected officials,” the complaint emphasizes, demanding accountability for Willis’ actions.

Illegally Tainted Process

The Georgian representative criticizes Willis for not only omitting financial disclosures post-2018 judgeship candidacy but also for a suspicious relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade, alleging an “illegally tainted” process.

Thorough Investigation

Despite available disclosures for 2020, Greene insists on a thorough investigation into Willis’ conduct.

Restore Public Trust

District Attorney Fani Willis holds a press conference in the Fulton County Government Center after a grand jury voted to indict former US President Donald Trump and 18 others on August 14, 2023, in Atlanta, Georgia. The Georgia prosecutor who brought sweeping charges against former president Donald Trump and 18 other defendants said Monday, August 14, that she wants to hold their trial "within the next six months." Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis said arrest warrants had been issued for Trump and the others charged over their efforts to overturn the 2020 election and they had until August 25 to "voluntarily surrender." The filing noted, “For that reason, Fani Willis’ alleged failures to disclose these suspicious relationships and transactions must be fully investigated and, if proven true, punished in order to vindicate these rights and restore Georgians’ confidence in the intentions of their leaders.”

Campaign Finance Violations

Greene faces scrutiny over her own campaign finance violations, having been fined by the Federal Election Commission for improper fundraising practices.

Accusations of Personal Benefit

The complaint extends to accusations that Willis personally benefited from appointing Wade amidst claims of joint travel to places like the Caribbean and Napa Valley, California, that suggest a conflict of interest.

Neglecting Ethical Standards

Greene highlights the necessity of transparency, accusing Willis of neglecting legal and ethical standards, and labels the situation a “scandal of epic proportions.”

On Wednesday, Willis filed a motion to quash a subpoena compelling her to testify at an evidentiary hearing scheduled for next week regarding the allegations against her and Wade.

Claims Denial

Despite acknowledging a connection with Wade, Willis has countered claims of misconduct, aiming to dispel the controversies surrounding her office.

Professional Associates

“Although District Attorney Willis and Special Prosecutor Wade have been professional associates and friends since 2019, there was no personal relationship between them in November 2021 at the time of Special Prosecutor Wade’s appointment,” Willis said in a court filing last Friday.

“A Scandal of Epic Proportions”

The Georgian lawmaker, however, in a statement to NBC News, described the accusations against Willis as “a scandal of epic proportions.”

Allegations also include Wade’s disproportionate compensation compared to other experienced prosecutors, with claims of nearly $700,000 in charges to the district attorney’s office.

In the face of Greene’s accusations, Willis has advocated for professionalism and kindness, distancing herself from the animosity directed at her.

So Much Cruelty

She said, “How did such a woman [Greene] come to think that it was normal and normalized that another woman was worthy of such cruelty? I would never wish for her to have the experiences or the threats that I receive, the derogatory name calling, the being doxxed multiple times.”

“Political Prosecution”

Lawyers representing David Shafer, the former state GOP chair and co-defendant with Trump, also filed a new submission on Monday. They aimed to disqualify Wallis due to remarks she made in January questioning the singling out of Nathan Wade, who is Black, while her other two special prosecutors are white.
