Senator Rand Paul, a Kentucky Republican and ophthalmologist, accused Dr. Anthony Fauci of making “the worst decision ever made by a public health official in the history of time” concerning the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a recent interview on WABC 770 AM’s “The Cats Roundtable,” Senator Rand Paul from Kentucky, an eye doctor, vehemently criticized Dr. Anthony Fauci.

He asserted that Fauci “should go to prison” for mishandling the pandemic.

Paul, who has often sparred with the former NIAID director over measures like mask mandates and lockdowns, stated that “history should judge him as a deficient person who made one of the worst decisions in public health history — in the entire history of the world.”

Senator Rand Paul fiercely criticized Dr. Anthony Fauci, blaming him for the research conducted in the Wuhan lab in China, which he believes sparked the global outbreak.  In a conversation with WABC host John Catsimatidis, Paul argued, “For his dishonesty, frankly, he should go to prison.”

He questioned the value of the scientific knowledge gained against the backdrop of 20 million deaths. Despite significant biosafety concerns, a 2023 report by the Government Accountability Office revealed that the NIH had funded over $1.4 million to Chinese research institutions, including the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky, who asserts that the COVID-19 virus originated from a lab in China, has accused Dr. Anthony Fauci of contributing to the deaths of “somewhere between 10 and 20 million people” by funding high-risk gain-of-function research.

This contentious relationship between Paul and Fauci, who played a pivotal role in the U.S. response to the pandemic, has been marked by repeated allegations from Paul, accusing Fauci of misleading the public about the virus’s origins.

Gain-of-Function Research

In his testimony before Congress, Dr. Anthony Fauci previously denied that the NIH had financed gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab, where the pandemic is believed to have originated in late 2019.

Senator Rand Paul expressed his astonishment that Democrats continue to revere the former chief of infectious diseases as a medical messiah, defending him as a representation of big government. “He’s never been held responsible,” stated Paul.

Paul’s recent remarks align with his previous assertions, where he stated that Fauci, the former White House chief medical adviser, should “without question” be in jail.

Dismissing the ‘Craziness’

Dr. Anthony Fauci, who faced intense scrutiny amidst the politicization of the COVID-19 pandemic, has dismissed calls for his prosecution over his management of the health crisis. Speaking on CNN in March, Fauci responded to these accusations by saying, “There’s no response to that craziness.”

Prosecution for What?

He questioned the grounds of such allegations, expressing confusion and disbelief, “prosecute me for what? What are they talking about? I mean, I wish I could figure out what the heck they were talking about. I think they’re just going off the deep end.”

Memory Gaps in Testimony

The chairman of the committee, Representative Brad Wenstrup of Ohio, expressed his surprise at the frequency with which Dr. Anthony Fauci claimed he couldn’t recall certain decisions or situations during the initial phase of the outbreak.

Vaccine Mandate Debate

Paul stated Sunday, “A guy that’s smart enough to think that he can shut down the schools, shut down the economy, force everybody to get vaccinated, including children, including people who have already had COVID, including the military – we had mandates everywhere, and he was all for them – yet he can’t recall how the decision-making went or what the science is to support this.”

Fauci’s Fatal Misjudgment?

Senator Rand Paul criticized Dr. Anthony Fauci for his admission of approving research at the Wuhan lab without thoroughly reviewing it. Paul suggested that the virus likely originated from the lab, which was operational due to U.S. funding and Fauci’s approval.
