Christie, the ex-governor of New Jersey now aiming for a breakthrough in New Hampshire, locks eyes with the camera in his 30-second ad while delivering a stark message about Trump: “He’ll burn America to the ground to help himself.”

This bold statement about the former president stems from a desire to bring what he sees as genuine honesty to the forefront, something he believes is intentionally avoided in the context of American politics. Directly addressing the camera, he remarks, “Every Republican leader says that in private. I’m the only one saying it in public.”

Warning for America’s Future

In the advertisement running in New Hampshire, Christie openly criticizes Trump’s performance in the political arena, warning that America’s future is at stake if he wins. “Some people say I should drop out of this race. Really? I’m the only one saying Donald Trump is a liar. He pits Americans against each other,” he states.

Expanding on his accusations, Christie claims that the former president’s main focus is his own benefit, even if it was at the expense of Americans. “His Christmas message to anyone who disagrees with him? ‘Rot in Hell.’ He caused a riot on Capitol Hill — he’ll burn America to the ground to help himself,” he continues.

Seven-Figure Ad Plan

Set to air on both TV and digital platforms in New Hampshire, this ad is a key component of a major seven-figure advertising effort in the Granite State, coinciding with the weeks leading up to America’s first primary.

The former New Jersey governor has consistently been a prominent opponent of the ex-president among his fellow GOP White House aspirants, a stance he’s maintained since his campaign kick-off in June.

Christie’s presidential ambitions are heavily reliant on the Granite State, focusing his campaign efforts in this first primary state, aiming to resonate with New Hampshire’s independents who hold negative views of Trump. He has also been calling out his Republican competitors and questioning their lack of outspoken opposition to Trump.

The latest The Hill/Decision Desk HQ polls show Christie with 11% support in New Hampshire, ranking him third after Trump’s 43.7% and Nikki Haley’s 26.7%. He is, however, leading over Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis, who has 8.3%.

Telling the “Truth”

Promoting his campaign as a beacon of honesty and labeling Trump a “liar,” Christie released his ad on December 28 on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. “Telling the truth isn’t hard,” he wrote, followed by the question, “What kind of President do we want? A liar or someone who has the guts to tell the truth?”

Calls to Clear Path for Haley

Some Republican insiders and voters have urged Christie to withdraw from the presidential race, arguing that this would allow the anti-Trump vote to rally behind Haley, especially given her recent surge in the polls.

Notably, Christie consistently directed his criticisms towards Haley during the town hall, beginning with his dismissal of her ‘word salad’ responses to the sensitive topic of abortion,  and subsequently accusing her of “political pandering.”

No Retreat

Despite calls to step aside for Haley, Christie affirmed his role as the primary challenger to the ex-president in the race, declaring, “I’m not going anywhere.”
