America’s Most Wanted host John Walsh criticized President Biden on Saturday for selectively using statistics from just a few cities to back his statement that violent crime is decreasing nationwide.
Selective Statistics?
“Did you see our stumbling President try to get through that in some cities? He cherry-picked in a couple of cities, but those cities, the crime spikes were huge last year, and they might have gone down two murders this year, “ Walsh commented on One Nation with Brian Kilmeade.
“That doesn’t count as crimes going down.”
Is Violent Crime Really Decreasing?
Walsh, leading the famous true-crime show streaming on Fox Nation, challenged Biden’s broad assertion at a White House briefing last month.
“Across the country, violent crime rates are falling. In some cities, it’s going up, but overall, they’re falling,” he stated.
Global Murder Trends
John Walsh highlighted a concerning trend in global murder statistics, emphasizing the dominance of Mexican cities as the top six murder capitals, with a staggering 31,000 murders related to cartel activities.
U.S. Cities in Global Murder Rankings
He then pointed out the alarming inclusion of four American cities – St. Louis, Baltimore, New Orleans, and Chicago – in the top 10, drawing attention to Chicago’s 1,326 murders over two years and low arrest rates.
Chicago’s Crime Wave
Walsh also mentioned significant increases in carjackings and car thefts in Chicago. Furthermore, he referenced Portland’s dramatic 700% hike in homicides following police defunding, emphasizing the reluctance of officers to work in such conditions.
“They can’t find cops. Why would you work there?” he questioned.
NYC’s Officer Shortage
Walsh also touched on the broader issues of police staffing crises, using New York City as an example. As PBA President Patrick Henry stated, the loss of 3,000 officers has resulted in overworked, understaffed police forces.
‘It’s impossible to get a cop’
Walsh expressed his concern about the challenges in recruiting police officers, citing Chicago as an example where a significant number of officers resigned. He highlighted the operational difficulties faced by the police, including solo patrols, extended 12-hour shifts, and limited days off.
He pointed out, “Eighty % of the guys who showed up were morbidly obese, couldn’t read or write, and they only hired five cops. It’s impossible to get a cop.”
Is Defunding the Police the Answer?
Walsh also commented on the “defund the police” movement, questioning its logic and its implications for child safety.
“it’s nuts,” he remarked.
Child Abduction Fears
He referenced his personal connection to child safety advocacy, mentioning his son Adam and Elizabeth Smart, whose case he was involved in.
He also discussed a recent abduction attempt caught on camera, raising questions like, “How do we keep our kids safe today? Is it more dangerous for kids, or we just have more ring doorbell cameras?”
Online Dangers
Highlighting the growing dangers for children from online predators, John Walsh discussed the work of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, created in response to his son’s murder.
He advised kids to move away from strangers’ cars and seek help loudly.
Terrorist Entries
He also expressed concern about individuals on the terror watch list entering the U.S. across the border, citing a significant increase in such cases in recent years.
“Not only thousands of tens of thousands of people, we don’t know, dare I say, 8 million, we are finding people turning up on the terror watch list,” he said.
Terrorism in America
Reflecting on his visit to ground zero, he expressed concerns about the potential threats posed by terrorists in the U.S. and contrasted this with the legal immigration experiences of his housekeeper and ranch workers.
Inconsistent U.S. Policies
Walsh expressed frustration over perceived inconsistencies in U.S. policies, questioning why 8,000 service members were dismissed for refusing a COVID vaccine while migrants entering the country aren’t tested for diseases.
‘Furious’ Reactions
He criticized California Governor Gavin Newsom’s policies on healthcare benefits for undocumented immigrants and mentioned the anger of his employees over border issues.
“These people that work for me are so furious about what’s going on on the border,” he shared.
