Searching for Rental Properties

Searching for Rental Properties has been challenging.

August is here, and we have been once again searching for rental properties. If you have been looking at real estate, then you know how difficult it is right now. I have had to get creative as of late. Here is a brief update of what I’ve been up to.

Rental Property Search

The search for rental property is proving to be difficult to say the least. Most places are pending before we can even go to look at them. We actually made an offer on a cabin a few days ago, but we got outbid. I’m not getting into a bidding war, so we decided to just move on and keep looking.

Tomorrow we are to view two additional places. I’ll provide an update on how it goes. Both are cabins near vacation destinations, so the plan would be to use them as short-term rentals.

Alternatives to the MLS

Searching for rental properties on the MLS is nearly impossible. I’ve been starting to search in other places as an alternative. Facebook Marketplace has multiple off market deals. So does Craigslist. I’ve also spoken to a realtor about looking at some foreclosure properties. Finally, I came across ForSalebyOwner in my searching. I’d recommend checking any or all of these out if you are looking for property. A lot of what you will find are all cash deals, as the banks won’t touch them. So, you will have to get creative with financing or pay cash if you happen to find something.

The Search Continues

The real estate market is still hot where I live. Finding property is a challenge, but we are going to keep at it. If you have been searching for rental properties share your experiences below.
