Jim Jones was born Joseph Guillermo Jones II in New York City on July 15, 1976, to Nancy and Joseph Guillermo. His mother is Aruban and his father is Puerto Rican. Jones has stated publicly that he was mostly raised by his maternal grandmother, and had a rough upbringing. He grew up with rapper Freekey Zekey, and often got into trouble stealing from a convenient store down his street. He was expelled from school as a teen-ager.
Rap Career
As a young child Jones started out rapping as part of The Diplomats along with fellow rappers, some of whom continued to rap into adulthood alongside Jones. The Diplomats, who released albums in 2003 and 2004, reached Certified Gold status, getting number 1 on the U.S. R&B Charts, and #8 on the U.S. Billboard 200. As an artist and producer Jim Jones released his first two solo albums tilted On My Way To Church and Harlem: Diary of A Summer in 2005 which led the way to his international song We Fly High (certified platinum) as part of his third album Hustler’s P.O.M.E. Jones also co-founded his own record label with fellow rapper Cam’ron, called Diplomatic Records which has signed over 40 rappers since its founding. Jones has release 5 studio albums, three of which have hit number 1 on the U.S. Billboard Rap Charts.
Jones first solo album, On My Way to Church sold 44,000 copies its first week and his second album Harlem: A Diary of A Summer sold 74,000 copies in its first week. His third album, Hustler’s P.O.M.E. (product of my environment) went on to sell 100,000 copies in its first week. In 2009, his fourth album, Pray IV Reign, sold over 40,000 copies in its first week. His fifth album, Capo, sold over 20,000 copes in its first week. Its safe to say the man has done pretty well for himself!
Cars
Jim Jones has three cars (that we know of;)) that are valued at a combined $325,000. These include a Bentley GT, an Audi R8, Mercedes Benz G-Class and an Audi A8L.
Fashion
Jim Jones has also taken his hand at the fashion industry with his brand, Nostic. Launched in 2007, the brand is designed to be a mix of street and rock style. His mother designed most of the items within the brand, which include tee shirt, button up shirts and uniquely designed denim jeans.
In 2011 Jones also started clothing brand Vampire Life, which is currently sold throughout New York City, and Jones has plans to eventually expand it globally.
Acting
